Youth Red Cross

YOUTH RED CROSS

It was established in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Father of Red Cross movement and recipient of noble award for peace in 1901 was “Jean Henry Dunant”, who was a successful businessman. The Youth Red Cross (YRC) is a constituent of the Indian Red Cross Society (Tamil Nadu), it is a group movement organized at the initial stages for students between 18 to 25 years of age that aims to develop a spirit of service and better relationships among young people. In our College YRC was established in the year 2011, any student of any discipline can become an YRC member. Our YRC unit has 100 volunteers.

Objectives:

  • To contribute to the improvement of health, prevention of disease and child care in the community.
  • To educate the population on how to prepare for and respond to disasters.
  • To promote the participation of children and youth in Red Cross.
  • To promote fundamental principles of the movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideas among the population and, in particulars among and youth children.
